Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where casino gambling is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect destination, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; however, funding sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, contains 150 slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel complex that features many comforts accompanying the gambling den, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 gaming tables.
