There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which casino gambling is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.
The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel compound that features a number of comforts accompanying the casino, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
